Once a referral is made to A.R.C we will review the file and set up a time to come and interview the potential student face to face within 48-72 hours. If a case appears to be complex and additional information is needed, or the School Psychologist Trainee will need to take a look at the case for further review following the initial file review, this time frame may be extended by a day or two. A determination of acceptance or denial is usually made within 24 to 48 hours of file review and interview.
In addition to the referral packet it would be beneficial to have the most up to date psychological exam, discharge reports from prior placement, education reports, and court reports if they are available to aid in the decision making process.
Referral Packet Should Include:
- Social Summary
- Previous Placement Discharge Summaries
- Any psychological and/or psychiatric reports
- Any special evaluations (sex offender, fire setter, YLS, D&A, Diagnostic)
- Police Report Summaries
- School Records
If the outcome of our behaviors, actions, and attitude is good for the students, then it is worth doing. If the outcome of our behaviors, actions, and attitude is not good for our students then it is not worth doing. We are the role models for our students. Therefore our behavior, actions, and attitude must always be presented in a positive way.
